What Causes Headaches?

Headaches and migraines have many triggers, but often, their roots lie in musculoskeletal tension and nerve irritation. 

Cervicogenic headaches – Inflammation of the joints and muscles, most frequently trapezius, suboccipital, and upper cervical joints, can refer pain into the head, both in the back of the head and referring to other areas of your head, including forehead, temples, and behind your eyes.

Poor posture – Hours spent hunched over screens, driving, or performing a repetitive action may cause extra strain the neck and shoulders, leading to tension headaches.

Stress and TMJ – Many people experience headaches and jaw pain when under stress. This is due in part to clenching and increased muscle tone in your neck and jaw, which is part of your body's response to stressors.

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractors treat headaches by addressing the muscles, tendons, joints, and connective tissue that often cause headaches and migraines. We do this through adjusting, trigger point therapy, Active Release Technique, massage guns, laser, electric stimulation, or whatever other techniques are appropriate for your body and condition. We will also work with you to address other underlying issues you have with your posture, your work ergonomics, exercise routine, diet, sleep habits, etc. that may be contributing.
