Repetitive Strain Injuries

Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI)

.

How Common Are Repetitive Strain Injuries?

We see repetitive strain injuries every day. They occur when people do the same repetitive movements or spend too much time in the same, often less than optimal positions. We commonly see RSI in people who work on computers, at lab stations, who do repetitive lifting like in warehouses, or whose jobs require repetitive awkward positions like dentists and plumbers.  Athletes also can get RSI from repetitive impacts or positions in endurance sports or from compensation for weakness or lack of flexibility, like IT band problems from lack of glute strength.

Chiropractic Care Can Help

The first step to effective treatment is diagnosis. During consultation and exam we will work with you to find out the affected tissues, whether muscle, joint, nerve, or ligament, or some combination of all. We will also do our best to determine why your injury occurred, whether due to lack of flexibility, strength, poor lifting technique or movement pattern, lack of stability, or ergonomic problems at your workstation. An effective treatment plan usually includes treatment of the injured tissue, a long term correction of underlying mobility/stability problems, and a change to your ergonomics or movement habits if necessary.  Our techniques and strategies will vary depending on your injury and your goals. With an effective treatment plan, you can recover faster and have fewer set backs
