Sciatica Treatment

Sciatic Pain

.

What is "Sciatica?"

Sciatica is pain caused by inflammation, damage, or compression to the sciatic nerve. Common symptoms include shooting pain down the leg, numbness or tingling in the foot or lower leg, back pain, gluteal pain, or burning pain. People often refer to any pain going down their leg as "sciatica," but not all leg pain is related to the sciatic nerve. There are several joints, discs, nerves, and even muscles and tendons that can cause symptoms that mimic sciatic nerve pain. It's important to first figure out the source of your pain, determine why that tissue is having symptoms, and then we can decide the best course of action both short term and long term.

How Do You Treat Sciatica?

After we have determined where your pain is coming from, we can choose a strategy for treatment. Your chiropractor will discuss your options with you to decide what techniques, frequency of treatment, home care, and lifestyle changes will help you recover most effectively. No two injuries are exactly the same, so your care will depend on your injury and your body.
